This iconic Chicago actor has never appeared in Chicago Med

NBC’s “One Chicago” franchise is famous for rotating actors between different series. Whether in standalone episodes or epic crossover events, a detective from “Chicago P.D.” could easily go and interrogate the suspect in the emergency room on “Chicago Med.” Likewise, a member of the “Chicago Fire” team can visit “Chicago P.D.” crew to help a detective track down a serial arsonist. Indeed, there’s always the possibility that first responders from all three “Chicago” series will get together to toast someone’s health at Molly’s bar.

For fans, the shared cast and intertwined storylines of the “One Chicago” shows are an extremely popular narrative device. By mixing and matching actors from different series, viewers can see how their favorite characters get along and clash with each other as well as the others’ skills in adapting with new and challenging environments. That said, the famous “One Chicago” actor has never actually appeared on “Chicago Med,” despite appearing in many other “Chicago” crossovers.

Jon Seda never made it to Chicago Med

Any longtime “One Chicago” enthusiast is completely familiar with Jon Seda’s Antonio Dawson. Originally cast as the character in 2012, Seda joined the cast of “Chicago P.D.” when it officially split from “Chicago Fire.” He then moved on to the short-lived “Chicago Justice” before returning to “Chicago P.D.” Seda’s Detective Dawson even appeared in the “One Chicago” crossover with “Law & Order” and “Law & Order: SVU” (via IMDb). However, while appearing in various areas of the “One Chicago” universe, the actor somehow never found his way through the doors of Chicago’s Gaffney Medical Center on “Chicago Med”.

Addressing this flaw in his credits with Starry Constellation Magazine, Seda said: “I haven’t done ‘Chicago Med.’ I just think the whole cast is incredible and I’ve seen the show . They just make the whole thing look so easy.” Seda went on to mention how much he enjoyed working with some of the “Chicago Med” stars on other shows, saying, “I ended up having a scene with Colin Donnell when he went through ‘Chicago Fire .’ I had a scene with him and it was great. … But you have Oliver Platt and S. Epatha Merkerson. Epatha and I go back to the first Dick Wolf crossover when I was on ‘Homicide’ and she was also in ‘Law & Order.’ I love working with all of them.”

While fans can always catch the actor in reruns of “One Chicago,” the fact that he has now moved on to NBC’s “La Brea” means a “Chicago Med” void. on Jon Seda’s resume will likely remain unfilled.
