The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) will eventually return to Genoa City and could get a big surprise when she does. Chelsea was worried about leaving Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) to deal with all the Abbott family issues, but he brushed it off and acted like everything would be fine.
Of course, Chelsea had to put Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) first and get him in the new school he asked for.
Connor is dealing with some anxiety and depression, so he’s thankfully found somewhere he can get the help he needs and gain a sense of belonging.
However, this exit only happened because of Melissa Claire Egan’s maternity leave, so it’s a temporary thing that’ll eventually be resolved.
Connor might end up staying with Anita Lawson (Catherine Bach) alone while Chelsea resumes her life in GC.
Then again, maybe Connor will have a change of heart and decide he’s ready to come home as well once the semester’s over.
Regardless, Chelsea will need to get back on canvas and may find a very different Billy Abbott upon her return.
When is Chelsea returning to The Young and the Restless?
Y&R fans are always seeing shades of the old Billy, who surrenders to his worst impulses and rushes headfirst into drama.
At his core, Billy is a gambler, so he always has to be taking risks and crossing lines.
Perhaps that’s why Billy has invented his new feud with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and why he’s tossing so many threats around.
There’s no reason to think Diane Jenkins-Abbott (Susan Walters) is going to do anything nefarious at Jabot, especially since it would surely cost her Jack.
Diane finally got the marriage prize and is enjoying her lavish life with doting Jack by her side, so why would she do anything to intentionally screw that up?
Unfortunately, Billy’s got it in his head that Diane is somehow going to gain all the power and ruin his family’s legacy.
This could send Billy off the rails, especially if he pushes so hard that Jack fires him.
Billy may spin out if he loses the co-CEO spot to Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor), so that could lead to a revenge plot and more family tension.
We also know Billy’s going to engage in a growing feud with Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John), so that’ll bring another opportunity for risky behavior and total chaos.
On top of all that, Billy has been reconnecting with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) lately.
There’s a chance Billy will cheat on Chelsea with Lily, especially since she’s about to tackle major problems in her relationship with Daniel Romalotti Jr. (Michael Graziadei).
By the time Chelsea returns to town, she may barely recognize Billy anymore!
Chelsea and Billy may be headed for a split once she sees the harsh reality of him reverting to bad behavior.
